Why are we moving to this format for player placement during this season?
At South Orlando Soccer Club we continue to evaluate players throughout the year and make sure we are matching players with the right level of play for their development. Many clubs throughout the country are moving away from the large format tryout, especially in this time of social distancing, for safety reasons and to reduce the additional stress that is placed on our players during tryouts. This format will allow our coaches to start working directly with players, their families, and the competitive program director to make decisions for each player through training sessions when we can return to play. From there we can always make decisions to advance players to higher levels of play when it is determined to be best for the player and their family.
Registration fee: Our registration fee will remain $250. We recognize the challenges some families may have incurred during the pandemic, so we will provide the option to split the registration fee payment into two payments 50% upon registration and the remaining 50% within 30 days for all players registering by May 15th, 2020. All other club fees to remain the same as last year. Tournaments and travel, if necessary are additional and vary by team.
Uniform: New kits cost $160.00 which includes, 2 practice jerseys, 1 green jersey, shorts & socks, 1 white jersey, shorts & socks. All gear is NIKE and is purchased separately through United World Soccer.
PLEASE NOTE: It is important to SOSC that we provide an opportunity for every child to play soccer. It is equally important that each child is placed on a team that fits their mental and physical strengths and skills to allow each child to grow and continue to love the sport of soccer. Therefore, SOSC reserves the right to move players up and down on playing levels during the year to ensure the right fit for the player and the team.
